The procedure of upgrading the Geographical Information System of the Land Registry is in process.
The procedure of upgrading the Geographical Information System of the Land Registry is in process which at phase a, is expected to be completed at the end of 2019. Speaking at the News Agency, the Director of Land Registry Andreas Socratous has mentioned, amongst others, that the procedure which has been in process for about six months, is progressing in cooperation with the company that has undertaken the whole project and the duration of the contract is 18 months.
The system, as Mr Socratous stated, will be upgraded in two phases, explaining that it has three subsystems which are the technical geographical, the legal which is related to the title deeds and the rights registration and the valuation which assesses values.
Mr Socratous added that within the first semester of 2019 the Land Registry is expected to request quotes for the upgrading of the legal and evaluation part of the system.
He also mentioned that after the upgrading, the system will be more time efficient and at the same time it will enable the Land Registry to provide new products to the public.
According to the Director of the Land Registry, the efforts for modernization of the Land Registry have led him to receive the Cyprus Innovation Award ΟΕΒ 2018 for the creation of the innovative e-Services Platform of the Department of Lands and Surveys known as ‘DLS PORTAL’.
